Mountain Assets' NDIS project in Fairy Meadow, Wollongong, now underway to meet increasing SDA demand

  • Written by PR Newswire

SYDNEY, May 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Mountain Assets, in partnership with Fairy Meadow House Pty Ltd (FMH), has commenced the construction of a new purpose-built property for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants in Fairy Meadow, a beach suburb on the northern side of Wollongong in New South Wales.

The project aims to provide the very best in disability accommodation to meet the increasing demand for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) in the Wollongong area. With a significant under supply of new built disability accommodation and a volume of potential tenants with significant physical impairment eligible for this product, this project will help alleviate the drastic shortage of such accommodation in the area and set the standard for future developments.

The site will be managed by experienced property developers who specialize in the development of accommodation for disabled persons, where rental payments are made on their behalf under the NDIS.

The Fairy Meadow site has been selected due to the significant unmet demand for SDA in the Wollongong area. With the cost of land being so high in Fairy Meadow and surrounding areas, it appears highly unlikely there will be an oversupply in the upcoming years.

As the NDIS is an initiative funded by both the Commonwealth and State Governments, rental income for specialist disability accommodation funding housing providers is securely backed, on the condition that the NDIS participant and housing provider remains eligible. This makes specialist disability accommodation an attractive, stable investment for freehold purchasers in comparison to standard residential tenancy accommodation.

Mountain Assets is confident that this project, like their others, will deliver to the benefit of both disabled persons and investors. In addition, they plan to release around 2000 SDA options to market in the next decade, fulfilling the social justice objectives of their consultants and advisors.
