  • Check if you can work - If you do not have a significant amount of savings put away then it’s likely that you’re going to need to work in order to be able to generate money to support you while staying in Australia unless you are selling your home. The beauty about getting an offshore partner visa is that you can start to work almost immediately on your arrival. You will of course have to apply for a social security number and that will take a little bit of time to process. In the meantime, you can do some touristy things and see how beautiful the country really is.
  • Figure out your accommodation - If you have a partner who is currently living in Australia then this may be your accommodation worries covered by if they are living insured accommodation, then you might have to look for your own place to stay. It can be a lot of fun trying to find a new place to live and there are a number of different options available to you.
  • Make sure you apply for health care - None of us really know when we are going to get sick or be involved in some kind of road traffic accident and so it is essential that you apply for health care the moment that you arrive. It will also be a good idea to take out some kind of travel insurance until all of the paperwork has been completed and you have the peace of mind that health care is going to be made available to you.

You will have so much to do before you leave your country of origin like making sure that your electricity and your gas are turned off and that you get a final bill demand. If you have a smart phone, make sure that you get it unlocked so that it can be used in Australia and always remember to take some things with you that remind you of home.
