Mimecast Announces Geographic Expansion of Email Security

Protection for Microsoft 365 Customers Globally

Solution includes add-on products such as Protection for Microsoft Teams, Sync & Recover and Security Awareness Training

November 2023 - Mimecast Limited (Mimecast), an advanced email and collaboration security company, today announced the expansion of its Email Security Cloud Integrated solution to certain additional markets across Europe, Middle East, North America and Asia Pacific, enabling more organizations across the globe to Work Protected™. This gateway-less solution is designed to optimize protection for Microsoft 365 environments with scalable, best-in-class email and collaboration security.

Since its initial deployment in the US and UK in November 2022, Email Security Cloud Integrated discovered that for every 1 million emails Microsoft 365 delivered, 24,500 on average were untrustworthy or contained malware or phishing.1 This gateway-less deployment solution is engineered for organizations that want to implement additional security in their Microsoft 365 environment without adding complexity or burdening overstretched teams.

“Backed by nearly two decades of email security expertise and a rich history of innovation, Mimecast is uniquely positioned to offer a flexible, gateway-less solution that helps organizations proactively enhance their security posture,” said David Raissipour, Mimecast Chief Technology & Product Officer. “Our data clearly shows that Microsoft 365 alone is not sufficient to provide organizations with protection from cyber threats.”

Typically deployed in less than five minutes, this solution is ideal for IT teams that need to protect their email and collaboration tools in the fastest way possible. Email Security Cloud Integrated customers will now also be able to purchase the recently released Protection for Microsoft Teams, which enables organizations to protect their users and data across the hybrid attack surface.

This capability was inspired by the fact that businesses are failing to adequately secure collaboration tools, despite a rise in cyber threats on these platforms. In fact, Mimecast research found that while nearly 75% percent of cybersecurity leaders believe their organizations are prepared to defend against collaboration tool attacks, nine in 10 respondents were victims of a breach stemming from these applications over the past year.

Additionally, Email Security Cloud Integrated customers will now be able to purchase Mimecast’s security training and cyber risk management platform, Mimecast Awareness Training and data protection and recovery solution, Sync & Recover.

“Microsoft 365 cloud-delivered email has become core to more than two-thirds of the world’s email communications infrastructure,” said Dave Gruber, Principal Analyst with the Enterprise Strategy Group. “Despite native security and resilience capabilities included within Microsoft 365, additional layered controls from companies like Mimecast are helping IT and security teams deliver increased protection needed to support their business operations.”

In addition to the United States and United Kingdom, Email Security Cloud Integrated is now available to new customers located in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and most of the countries in the EU / EEA. A free 30-day trial of the full Email Security Cloud Integrated suite can be activated now in these countries and is typically deployed in under five minutes.  Email Security Cloud Integrated is expected to be available for sale in South Africa sometime during 2024.
