Salvation Army Harbor Light Center selects NextStep Solutions Software
INDIANAPOLIS, IN, Oct 31, 2018 - (ACN Newswire) - The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center, Indianapolis will be using the NextStep Behavioral Health EMR System to improve the quality of care for clients, data collection for outcomes and program post treatment follow up. The Harbor Light Center is dedicated to helping people get their whole lives back, and they have selected NextStep Solutions, from among over 15 behavioral health EMR candidates, to manage their behavioral health and substance abuse program needs.

"Our goal is to move the lives of our consumers forward, to develop our staff. NextStep Solutions has demonstrated that their system is forward thinking. That is a focal point of Harbor Light Center, and NextStep Solutions aligns with that goal," says Major Kendall Matthews, Executive Director, Salvation Army - Midwest.

In selecting NextStep Solutions, the Salvation Army noted that compliance was a huge factor in vetting other organizations' capabilities to partner with them. NextStep Solutions system allows Salvation Army to demonstrate a high standard of programming and services; the compliance targets are built into the system and it will hold the Salvation Army team accountable for hitting those targets, just by the way it's designed.

"The Salvation Army had two huge challenges in accuracy and accountability because we're migrating from a paper model. Inherent in a paper model system is the potential for human error. With NextStep Solutions, we're switching to a system that can have required targets, ask the right questions, and keep the Salvation Army compliant. With accountability, a comprehensive auditing process built right in to the software, and transparency on services being rendered, we can demonstrate that our consumers are improving. This outcome based model really helps make a difference in our consumers' lives - and the system can demonstrate that transformation," says E. Alicia Hoskins, MSM, Director of Quality Assurance.

"Because NextStep Solutions is so user-friendly, switching from paper to an EMR will not be a shock to the culture within the Salvation Army. Since our team is comprised of a diverse group of people - some who are and some who are not tech savvy - the ease of use was a key consideration. The software is compliant, forward thinking and includes critical reminder steps that keep the outcomes provable."

"What attracted me to NextStep, from the first call, it was clear that the staff is knowledgeable, professional, transparent, and understands the field and the needs of the potential and current customers. We asked very specific questions, required references, and dove into their background and relationships with other customers. They were very open and receptive to that," Ms. Hoskins adds.

"We can demonstrate the highest level of service to our customers. There was a lot of negotiation to allow us to be where we are today. Both sides worked diligently to get this done. We hope we can be a model for other Salvation Army units across the United States," Maj. Matthews stated.
