Gotcha Fresh Tea bursts into new Australian locations and expands globally
Bubble tea brand, Gotcha Fresh Tea, has burst into new locations across Australia and internationally.
Gotcha has this month (June 2024) launched new Australian stores at Doncaster and Waverley Garden in Victoria, Adelaide Myer Centre Rundle Mall, World Square in Sydney and a new flagship site at the Sydney Fish Market.
The only international bubble tea brand founded in Australia is also rapidly increasing its global market presence with a new store in Mexico launched this month, ten more under negotiation, and is strategising for 100 stores within the Mexican market.
Strengthening its positioning as a leader of the booming bubble tea market – projected to be worth USD $5.4b globally by 2032 – Gotcha currently has more than 200 stores globally and more than 50 in Australia alone.
With further store openings in the pipeline for launch during 2024, Gotcha has its sights set on reaching 100 Australian stores within the next three years.
It also plans to this year open 20 more stores in Saudi Arabia where its offering is particularly popular, with Gotcha Jeddah generating USD $1.3m in sales.
“From the very outset of Gotcha in 2018, we’ve endeavoured to offer an exceptional bubble tea with multiple points of difference to the offerings of our competitors,” explains Gotcha Founder and Owner, Roger Fu.
Known as Australia’s first ‘luxury’ bubble tea due to its premium quality ingredients and distinctive store fitouts, Gotcha Fresh Tea is also known for its unique marketing collaborations with pop-culture icons including Sesame Street, Pokémon and Hello Kitty, which have boosted group sales by about 20 per cent this financial year.
“Our franchisees are very well-supported, and this is key to our business strategy. We consult our franchise partners and have one of the lowest franchisee turnover rates in the industry,” says Mr Fu.
To help keep its offering fresh and exciting, Gotcha launches a new product series every quarter and is currently working on a unique Bubble Tea Gelato. The company is also working on the development of a new ‘super’ machine to streamline the bubble tea creation process and reduce labour costs by more than 20 per cent.
Gotcha’s robust supply chain – with own-managed warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland – supports smooth national expansion. Its newly launched Adelaide store will further strengthen Gotcha’s local presence.
"We are incredibly proud of our growth and excited about the future," says Mr Fu. "Our new stores in key locations demonstrate our commitment to bringing the freshest and highest quality tea to more customers. We look forward to welcoming new franchisees and partners to join us in our journey."
