Book cover of The Struggle Is Real

The Struggle Is Real follows the life of Amos, a young boy who's bullied because his head is an unusual size and his intellectual abilities far exceed those of other kids his age. Amos doesn't let the negativity of Russelton and the other bullies get him down. In fact, when people from the surrounding communities grant him a wish of his choice as a reward for his academic success, Amos turns to Russelton for advice.

Although The Struggle Is Real is meant for children ages 4 to 11, readers of any age will appreciate the hopeful message at the heart of Amos's story. Parents, teachers, and guardians can all benefit from speaking positivity to the children in their lives and seeing the goodness even in those who can't see it for themselves.

Reviewers praise Essex-Carter's work, describing it as wonderful and wholesome. The Struggle Is Real also includes a short, effective exercise that friends and loved ones can use on a daily basis to support and nurture children just like Amos.

The Struggle Is Real: "It is Time to Make a Change" is available for purchase on Amazon.com[2], Barnes & Noble[3], or wherever books are sold.

Cynthia R. Essex-Carter is a children's author from the small town of Grady, Arkansas. She and her brother were raised by her maternal grandmother after their parents died. She was a nurse for 13 years at UCLA Medical Center before enrolling in the International School of Ministry, where she received her Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees. Cynthia was moved to start writing this book from the encouragement she received on her Master's thesis and when she noticed how jealousy and envy run rampant in people's lives.
