Partnership supports the FIT Entrepreneurship Program's first Web3/NFT Course Winning NFT Designs will be selected May 5, 2023

New York, New York--(Newsfile Corp. - April 11, 2023) - Fabriq Labs[1], a Web3 company based in the US, is sponsoring a groundbreaking University-wide Web3/NFT competition at the Fashion Institute of Technology[2] (FIT) in New York City. The NFT design competition tasks students with developing an NFT project that showcases both their design talents and an understanding of the core tenets of Web3. The competition will run through May 5, 2023, with judging by a panel of Web3 industry experts. Three winners will be selected to receive cash prizes based on the quality of their design and the viability of their project plan. This collaboration offers a unique, experiential learning opportunity for FIT students.

Sam Whitaker, the founder of Fabriq Labs, chose to partner with FIT while supporting the University's first Web3/NFT course with William Reinisch, associate chair, assistant professor, Entrepreneurship and Renee Leibler, adjunct assistant professor, Entrepreneurship. Professors Reinisch and Leibler teach Web3 and NFT courses and will serve as mentors to students in the competition.

"We hope to exhibit our core values of education and philanthropy to the FIT student body through this process," said Whitaker, who will be speaking at the NFT.NYC conference this week. "Fabriq's mission is to help realize the potential of Web3 and NFTs to positively impact society."

Fabriq will be offering students the opportunity to showcase one NFT from each of their collections in the first Fabriq NFT Charity Auction following the contest. Proceeds from the auction will be donated directly to a collection of exceptional national charities including: St Jude Children's Research Hospital[3] (TN), Esperanza[4] and Gene Spotlight[5] (PA), and Love Never Fails[6] (CA). Participating students will have the chance to select additional charitable recipients for the event.

All FIT students will then be invited to launch their NFT projects under the Fabriq brand in a first-of-its-kind exhibit.

"We would like to sincerely thank Professors Reinisch and Leibler along with the entire FIT administration for their energy, commitment and foresight to bring cutting edge opportunities like this to their student body," said Whitaker, "NFTs were born in art and these students are some of the most talented emerging artists in the world. It is an honor to help launch their Web3 journey and all the wonderful possibilities that come along with it."

Fabriq Labs invites members of the press and the Web3 community interested in participating or learning more about the contest and the Fabriq NFT Charity Auction to contact Sam Whitaker directly - sam@FabriqLabs.io[7] or via Twitter - @FabriqLabs[8]. All requests for FIT should contact Ivana Cepeda, Media Relations Specialist - ivana_cepeda@fitnyc.edu[9].
