Verba Launches Vendor Evaluation System to Enhance Translation Services
- Written by Newsfile
Zagreb, Croatia--(Newsfile Corp. - October 18, 2022) - Verba has announced the launch of a new vendor evaluation system for freelance translators to enhance its translation services. The company works with a large network of over 600 freelance translators who are termed as "vendors" and undergo training and evaluation as part of the new system.
The translators receive extensive feedback and constructive guidance from the linguistic project manager as to how they can improve. The vendors receive feedback in the form of reports with changes made to their translation along with change-specific and general comments. This not only informs them of their mistakes, but also explains why the changes were made and acknowledges what was done right.
Verba conducts an initiation process for freelance translators, as part of which they receive sector specific training, as well as coaching on translation software. In the event that freelance translators do not meet expectations in any specific category, they receive education in the areas that are lacking. This further refines their translation skills and ensures that clients receive service of the highest quality. Every project is reviewed by a senior translator and in case that the translator falls short of the required standards on a consistent basis, the vendor is excluded from the vendor system.
The vendor evaluation system is of benefit to both parties - the vendors get quality feedback through a central project management system and the company gets an internal database so that all the information is in one place. Positive and negative feedback is provided about the translation, and any recommendations for future translation projects will be added to the company's central database. The feedback system takes into account language standards, clients' preferences, technical aspects and the individualistic choices of the vendors. Feedback is mandatory for all translation tasks, unless the task is very small.
As of October 2022, Verba has sent feedback for over 7 million translated words, over 500 hours of various linguistic work and feedback to all 600 active vendors.
Commenting on the vendor evaluation process, Vanja Keindl, Owner and Chair of the Board, Verba Centar d.o.o. said, "Verba started as a small translation company in 1998 and has now grown to the point where we have offices in Croatia and Denmark. A large part of this success is thanks to our partners, over 600 freelance translators based in different countries across the globe. Our stringent vendor evaluation process ensures that we deliver high quality services despite standards differing from person to person. If our vendors are not familiar with the quality standards and the technical software we employ, we help them with the training and education that they need so that they grow together with us. The vendor evaluation system allows us to track the individual progress of each of our vendors and see the bigger picture at the same time - so we can identify either individual or general areas of improvement. That is the main reason why we launched this new vendor evaluation system."
