CAKE named finalist for two Telstra Best of Business awards

CAKE, a Brisbane-based professional services consulting firm, is proud to announce that it has been named as a finalist for two of Telstra’s prestigious business awards in Queensland: Accelerating Women and Building Communities

CAKE's innovative business model aims to shatter the stereotypes about stay-at-home parents by connecting businesses with skilled stay-at-home parents, predominantly women, to deliver and coordinate project-based work flexibly and remotely.

By offering flexible work arrangements, CAKE empowers women and primary caregivers to maintain their professional skills and contribute to the workforce while balancing family responsibilities.

Kelly Prior, founder of CAKE shares: "We are honoured to be a finalist for two Telstra Best of Business awards. I founded CAKE on a simple belief: better businesses and stronger communities start at home. We are immensely proud of how we have created opportunities and pathways for parents across Australia to be able to have their CAKE and eat it too.”

Prior acknowledges the challenges faced by parents who often feel torn between their roles at home and their career aspirations. "The current model of trying to be all things, to all people, all the time, doesn’t work,” she states. "CAKE offers a solution that benefits both parents and businesses, fostering a healthier, more productive workforce."

CAKE's impact extends beyond individual families. By supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, which make up 98% of the Australian business landscape, CAKE contributes to the vitality of local communities.

"We understand the unique challenges faced by small businesses," Prior explains. "By providing access to the skills they need without the burden of permanent hires, we help these businesses thrive, creating a ripple effect of positive impact throughout the community."

CAKE's recognition as a finalist in both the "Accelerating Women" and "Building Communities" categories highlights the company's holistic approach to fostering a more equitable and prosperous society.

CAKE offers professional services across business strategy, marketing and sales, people and culture, operations and admin.
