How Does Telecommuting Increase Business Profits?

  • Written by a contributor

Thanks to the pandemic, a lot of us have been cooped up in our homes working remotely. A lot of people like this, others, not so much. Employees however are still navigating through the pros and cons of having a remote workforce. It's a fairly new idea many companies are starting to look into and maintaining even after the pandemic is over.

A lot of people think working from home means they will be too distracted or lose their productivity. Companies think employees will simply stop producing. This is why there are many employers that still don't dare to give employees that kind of freedom just yet. Here are some ways employers increase business profits while their employees are telecommuting.

Travel costs are decreased thanks to modern technology.

All employees around the world are aware that meetings can easily become emails. Meetings can take as much time as they can waste money. Likewise, transporting employees to these meetings can sometimes cost hundreds of dollars. These costs include airplane fares, lodging, and diets. It's because of this that employers are opting for cloud based contact center solutions to keep their employees working remotely and happy.

These systems implement CRMs, omnichannel routing, and AI analysis technology. It also saves employers infrastructure costs as employees have access to phone systems, and omnichannel systems that support video and phone calls, SMS, live chat, mobile apps, and social media channels to allow workers to interact directly with their clients.

Employees are more productive in familiar environments.

Studies have shown that telecommuting can increase productivity in employees. Employees that work remotely are more likely to work over 40 hours. Moreover, productivity tools can keep track of employees while telecommuting. There are desktop apps that monitor an employee's work with timers, keystrokes, screenshots, and mouse movements.

Additionally, it's proven that employees that are comfortable, can work prolonged hours from their homes. Even more when they have a good night's sleep with the Pluto Pillow. The Pluto Pillow is the ultimate customized pillow designed just for you based on the information you provide the Pluto algorithm about yourself. They are designed with foam modules to make them the right size and cooling materials for you. They are delivered to your door, and according to this Pluto Pillow review, they are sold in 35 variations, you get a 100-night trial, and are extremely comfortable. A Pluto Pillow helps employees count sheep and employers, their profits.

Employers spend less money on overhead expenses.

In addition, employers can save money on overhead expenses such as utilities, mortgage, office supplies and equipment, furniture, and coffee machines for example. If there's no one working at the office, there's no need to equip it, clean it, or even have it for that matter. Another overhead expense employers can save on is food. Having employees working remotely means there wouldn't be a need for cafeteria services or employees. Additionally, the amount of taxes that go into these services are saved when they are discontinued.

Remote employees use fewer sick days.

Lastly, employees that can't report to a physical location, are less likely to report as sick. They will work the hours they have to work and use home remedies or medications at hand to treat their illnesses. They have the flexibility to take care of themselves without having to use up work hours to leave the office, drive to a doctor's office, and pick up their medications. Telecommuting employees have the freedom to take care of their health without affecting their jobs, thus saving the company more money.

More companies should take into consideration the advantages of working remotely and implement these practices to save make more profit and save on unnecessary expenses.
