The Analog IP Portfolio Enables Hua Hong Semiconductor to Focus on the Development of MCU Market

  • Written by ACN Newswire
HONG KONG, June 14, 2018 - (ACN Newswire) - Hua Hong Semiconductor Limited ("Hua Hong Semiconductor" or the "Company", stock code: 1347.HK), a global leading specialty wafer manufacturer, today announced the analog IP portfolio for ultra low power MCUs has been developed independently by the Company based on its proven 0.11um Ultra Low Leakage eNVM Platform ("0.11um ULL platform"). Such IP portfolio includes clock management, power management and analog digital converter. These IPs have passed silicon verification and are mass produced, achieving designs of MCUs featured with low power, high cost performance and high precision, and expanding the Company share on the MCU market.

For clock management IP, Hua Hong Semiconductor developed three IP categories: RCOSC, RTC and PLL. With built-in compensating circuit technology, the high-precision OSC sized only 0.02mm2 delivers a accuracy up to +/-2% within the temperature ranged from -40 centigrade to 125 centigrade. The low-power 32KHz RCOSC recorded a low operating current of 160nA. The low-cost 16MHz RCOSC features a small footprint of 0.004mm2 with the operating current of 16uA. The real-time clock (RTC) provides 1Hz output without any external capacitor, which effectively reduces the cost. The low-jitter PLL delivers a random noise jitter below 25ps, and outputs a spectrum of frequencies from 60MHz to 500MHz.

For power management IP, the LDO with built-in BGR features a standby current down to 300nA, and can switch from standby to active mode in 2.5uS, significantly reducing the time needed to gear for normal operation. The external POR features a release voltage of 1.0V~1.52V, ensuring reliability and stability of the circuit. Besides, signal alarm analog IPs such as VDT/LDT/TDT can secure the stability of MCU chip's voltage, current benchmark, test voltage, temperature and chip security.

For signal conversion IP, Hua Hong Semiconductor delivers high-precision 10-bit and 12-bit SAR ADCs. The newly-launched 12-Bit SAR ADC sized merely 0.2mm2 delivers a sampling rate up to 2MSPS, and supports single-end and differential input modes. At a supply voltage of 3.3V and sampling rate of 2MSPS, its signal-noise & distortion ratio (SNDR) is down to 70dB. Delivering such features as multiple channel, high precision, low power and small footprint, it is an ideal choice for high-performance MCUs.

The demand for various MCU chips is increasing rapidly amid the great momentums of Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, smart city and virtual reality. A variety of analog IPs from Hua Hong Semiconductor may flexibly cater to the requirements for 8-bit and 32-bit MCUs, and enable customers to improve their competiveness in the IoT, information security, wearable products, industrial control and automotive electronics markets with its high quality and reliability.

"A series of analog IPs for MCUs demonstrate Hua Hong Semiconductor's indigenous innovation ability to the industry, which also shortens customers' chip development cycles and renders powerful support to our cuctomers in MCU marktet." Said Dr. Kong Weiran, Executive Vice President of Hua Hong Semiconductor.
