4 steps to improve your pharmacy business

  • Written by NewsCo

Whether you have been running a pharmacy business for several years or you are a newcomer to the pharmacy scene, this article aims to help you grow and build a better business. It will do this by giving you some helpful and handy practical tips to improve your pharmacy business.

Time management

In the pharmacy business, making sure you have full control and grasp of your time is important. Like with any other business, poor time management could lead to big losses, in terms of revenue. So, improving the efficiency of not only how you work, but how well you do it, is essential. There are many ways and tips you could implement to improve your time management. These include:

  • Plan and organise - At the start of the day and the beginning of shifts, organise and plan all the tasks that you need to complete. You can use physical or electronic planners and diaries to help you do this. Also, colour-coding the tasks and listing them from the most important to the least (aka prioritising) will ensure things run a lot smoother.

  • Set goals - First decide what you want to achieve, that day, week, month or even year. Once you have done that, make a note of how exactly you plan to achieve those goals. Finally, do them! Easy enough right? Well, if you are thorough and commit to planning and implementing tasks, you will no doubt be successful!

  • Be flexible - Yes, planning (with details) is essential. However, life is life and so sometimes unexpected things can happen which can put you off schedule or plan. Do not be alarmed or disheartened by such events - it happens. Instead, make sure your plan is flexible to allow room for such interruptions and distractions to occur. So, have and make back-up plans where necessary and be resilient.

Have all the right equipment ready

Another important tip is to ensure that you have all the necessary equipment ready (and that they are functioning properly). Equipment such as Labcold Pharmacy Fridges are super important in pharmacies. Therefore, great care should be taken to ensure that they are well maintained. Importantly, you should also make sure you purchase great quality fridges so that they can perform their function of cooling well and last a long time. If you invest in a high-quality product, you will save lots of money in the long-term. Further, you must ensure that the temperature inside the pharmaceutical fridges is well monitored and controlled.

Return products which are on the verge of expiring

This tip can be viewed as a little pharmaceutical hack. If you notice that there are products that are about to expire, return them. This is because leaving expired products on the shelf is essentially the same as letting money go to waste. So, to save and earn a little extra cash, return these items as soon as possible.

Accept card payments

Now, more than ever more people are paying using cards or through their phone. So, a great tip is to allow these modes of transactions. If you do not, you will be doing your pharmaceutical company a huge disservice.
