RICOH Australia Unveils Reconciliation Action Plan

RICOH AUSTRALIA, a leading provider of smart workplace technology, today unveiled its inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainably and strategically take meaningful action to advance reconciliation.

Over the next 12 months Ricoh Australia will roll out several milestone actions outlined in its RAP, helping to contribute to a more equitable and inclusive society.   These include actions to help increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, create direct employment opportunities for First Nations peoples, and support First Nations suppliers and companies to improve economic and social outcomes.

''Our RAP signifies our commitment to develop meaningful and respectful partnerships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands peoples,” said Yasu Takahashi, Managing Director, Ricoh Australia.  “Implementing our Reconciliation Action Plan will create new learnings for many of our team members to better understand the importance of First Nations cultures and being on Country. We also aim to create a proud culture for the people of our organisation and to recognise the importance of the First Nations history of Australia.  We look forward to meaningfully impact reconciliation in Australia and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.”

The creation of a sustainable RAP is also a key component of Ricoh’s Diversity Policy and supports its commitment to the employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the provision of pathways to employment, professional development, and retention strategies.

At the same time, Ricoh is also committed to ensure that the individual career goals and personal aims of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff are identified, promoted, and achieved.   As a result, the RAP has a strong focus on governance with built-in accountability and transparency reporting on achievements, challenges and learnings both internally and externally, as well as the provision of appropriate support for effective implementation of RAP commitments.

Karen Mundine, Chief Executive Officer, Reconciliation Australia, said, “Reconciliation Australia welcomes Ricoh Australia to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) program with the formal endorsement of its inaugural Reflect RAP.   Ricoh Australia joins a network of more than 2,200 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organisations that have made a formal commitment to reconciliation through the RAP program.  I look forward to following their reconciliation journey in the years to come.”
