John Perry

Areas of expertise: Automotive and transmission specialist, business owner, camping enthusiast

John Perry is a friendly, well-respected family man and a valued member of the local Sunshine Coast community, where he regularly partners with and supports local sports clubs. Best known for his passion for designing innovative, hybrid off-road camper trailers tailored specifically to withstand harsh Australian conditions, when he isn’t looking to improve existing models or expand the range, John can often be found enjoying time with family or indulging his love for camping. John’s mission is to make it easier and more affordable for more families to embrace the joy of outdoor adventuring and ‘Journey Australia with Attitude!’ The fact that he runs his business alongside his wife, his son, his daughter and his son-in-law is testament to the value he places on both his family and the camping lifestyle.

Skills And Experience

As a young man embarking on working life, John Perry attended TAFE in NSW to become an automotive and transmission specialist. Before becoming owner and Managing Director at JAWA Off Road Campers, John worked in the automotive industry for 35 years. He owned and ran an automotive repair shop specialising in automatic transmission and power steering, servicing 18 car dealerships around NSW and the greater Sydney area.

Having run his own business for many years, John knows the key to building brand loyalty is providing exceptional customer service. Despite the hybrid camper industry being hit by a recent downturn in sales, John's company has thrived, selling over 2000 hybrid campers since acquiring the business. And now JAWA has opened a second showroom. John attributes this success in part to his focus on innovative products and the development of an after-purchase support policy which ensures that customers are well looked after on the road. In this way, John makes sure that the JAWA brand stands out from the crowd in a competitive market.

Recognition

John is hugely proud to be recognised as an innovative off-road camper manufacturer, and of winning Hybrid Camper of the Year for two consecutive years in a row – 2019 and 2020. It is also a point of pride that the JAWA Sirocco model was featured on an episode of What’s Up Down Under.
